ABOUT US
Whether your're an avid horse enthusiast, or simply want to become involved in the equine industry, Happy Horsemanship offers services from very beginners to experienced riders. We offer both English and Western disciplines, but focus all of our clients on developing an exceptionally well rounded and balanced seat. Not only do our riders set goals to achieve correct riding habits, we also work on strengthening all around handling and horsemanship skills on the ground and in the barn. We strive to develop balance, enhance coordination and athleticism, improve responsibility and above all - an ever lasting love for the horse!
Our philosophy at Happy Horsemanship is that riding should ultimately be a FUN learning experience! Our love and passion for our horses is contagious and we want you to enjoy them just as we do! Enjoy your horseback riding experience at one of our two equine facilities. Both farms are family owned and operated in the scenic country side of the Oxford and Southbury area, just off of major high ways and routes.
Southbury
Our Southbury location is owned by Ashley McNamara, one of our favorite camp instructors! This is a three acre family-owned farm where there is always a whole lot of fun, smiles and laughter going on! This is the location where our summer horsemanship program is held and is right off route 67 and just minutes from I84.
Oxford
16 acres of pure bliss! Escape the city life for a relaxing riding lesson, trail ride or equine stable management at WhiteGate Farm, our Oxford location. We promise, you'll never want to leave!
UPCOMING EVENTS!
Meet Our Team!

Gianna M. Alberti
Gianna has been involved in riding horses for nineteen years. Starting from a simple pony ride on a horse named Possum, her love for horses has turned into a passionate career. From hunter jumpers to western riding she has touched on almost every discipline in the equine industry. She is a graduate of University of Kentucky where she received a bachelors degree in Equine Science and Management. During her time in Kentucky, she rode for the UK Western Team where they rode in both Horsemanship and Reining classes. During these years she traveled the United States with the riding team competing in both Semi-finals and the Nationals Finals in two out of her three years on the team. She was a working student for, Bennie Sargent out of Sargent Quarter Horses in Paris, Kentucky. She has traveled with the Sargent team during their competitions at the Quarter Horse Congress. Aside from the riding world, she also got a taste of the exciting Thoroughbred industry in both the racing and sales side. She has worked for Eaton Sales and Checkmate Thoroughbreds traveling from California, New York and Kentucky. Having such a passion for the equine world it is important to her to share her knowledge for those wanted to become involved. Teaching students the correct riding and horse handling habits is important to her. She has had 6+ years giving private and group riding lessons in both English and Western disciplines. She has also taught lessons at Central Kentucky Riding for Hope therapeutic riding center. She is the proud owner of two Quarter Horse mares, Jersey and Luna and a mini donkey, Banjo who keeps us all laughing every bit of time spent with him!
Ashley McNamara is the owner and operator of our Southbury location! She is our creative master behind all the fun at Happy Horsemanship. She has a unique eye for design that she has incorporated in our equine business. Her eleven years of experience has been everywhere from avid trail riding to buying and selling horses to traveling the AQHA circuit with her beloved, Mega Me Chocolate or better known around the barn as, Max. During their time competing at the AQHA level, this team has received points in Western Pleasure, Trail, Horsemanship, Showmanship and halter classes. She has worked very closely with top name Quarter Horse trainers, Jimmy Farrel and Gary McCalister, whom she learned all of her showing and training experience from. Aside from the world of horses, she is also the owner of Golden Gals, a dog breeding business where she breeds a family favorite, the Golden Retrievers. As you can see Ashley has an all around passion and love for animals which carried her to where she is today.
